The opening sequence for the movie ‘Memento’ is good, because it uses the main conventions to condone itself as a thriller. The good aspects of it are that the titles straightaway inform the audience that it is a genre of thriller and not a comedy. This then allows the audience to be prepared for it, the in tensed non diegetic sound enhances the creepy feeling of the background. This then changes into a hand with a photograph in it.
This makes a good opening sequence because it has the correct sound, the blue font on the titles condone the mysteriousness. The black background also helps the audience to be prepared for the unknown.
