Preliminary task

In my first lesson of my preliminary task I had to create footage of a very simple action which was to film a character that walks through a room, opens a door and sits down and haves a conversation with another character. To create this piece of film with my partner Jack Davenport I had to do planning, which I learnt from my other lesson, it was vital that I had made my planning very clear and with as much annotation as I could put. I did a storyboard of my idea, who agreed with some of my ideas. I worked very well and communicated my ideas and so did he. This made my understanding very strong and allowed both of us to develop brighter ideas. Me and my partner always thought about the mise-en-scene and tried to remember all the techniques we can apply when filming. I thought about the frames and what will be in the background and the foreground. When I made my plan I used arrows to show and indicate the movements of the camera and the directions it will move. I made sure I used the rule of third when filming and made sure I did not exceed the 180 degree rule when filming. I applied this rule when I filmed the over the shoulder scenes I also used the match on action.

With this I made sure I didn’t cross the invisible line and also I used different type of cinematography such as
• Close ups
• Extreme close ups
• Long shots which is known as the establishing shot
• Mid shot
• Over the shoulder
Also I used dialogue when there was conversations in the scene of the over shoulder shot.
Even better if
I had more time to finish it completely, and if I could mend it after receiving more information on what didn’t go so well.

The Brief

My brief is to create the titles and opening of a new fiction film, to last a maximum of two minutes. I a have chosen to do a action/ thriller genre. I will be doing a lot of research for this genre so I am aware of the different conventions for this.

4th step- i clicked on publish post

Donnie Darko EBI

I feel I had many problems recreating the film footage for Donnie Darko, it may be due to many factors such as not makeing percise planning also I feel the communication with group was not too great it was'nt too strong.
However I feel I have learnt from this very big mistake and next time will make my planning with more annotation.

WWW

I feel I did very good on the first task which was Push a Button this is because my camera skills were very good, I used many techniques such as the rule of thirds and I also always thought about what will be in the mise-en-scene when filming. The editing was good because the timing with the sound track was accurate. I really enjoyed the task I feel this is because I had very strong and well communication with my group which meant everyone knew what will be filmed and how.

Induction Task Ebi

Even better if -
my induction task was good, however If I had more time I could of used more different types of angle shots when filming. Also I would like to improve on my Mac skills , meaning how to import my film correctly and how to make the right cuts when editing.
